Canada Greener Homes Grant
Since February 19, 2024, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is no longer accepting new applicants for the Canada Greener Homes Grant. If you haven’t had an energy evaluation done between April 1st 2020 and February 19, 2024, you cannot apply for the federal grant.
Natural Resources Canada encourages homeowners who are already participating to proceed in a timely manner with their retrofits. NRCan has not announced how much time applicants will have to complete their retrofits and have their post-retrofit energy evaluation done.
In Québec, homeowners had to register for the Rénoclimat program in order to benefit from the federal grant. Eligible projects will be submitted to the Natural Resources Canada team if the pre-retrofit energy evaluation was carried out between April 1st 2020 and February 19, 2024. Learn more Rénoclimat Program.
- The Canada Greener Homes Grant is open to owners of an eligible primary residence.
- The offered amount can be up to $5,000 and can be used, for example, for some heating and cooling system retrofits, envelope measures such as windows and insulation and some renewable energy measures.
Once your participation in the Rénoclimat program is complete and your financial assistance has been paid out, your file is automatically transferred to the Canada Greener Homes Grant team. They will contact you to confirm your eligibility for the federal program and tell you how much financial assistance you may be entitled to.
Important notice – Check your emails from Natural Resources Canada
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) may have attempted to contact you by email to confirm your eligibility for the grant. Please check your inbox and junk mail for communications from NRCan. Make sure you send the documents needed to process your application as soon as possible.
For documents requested by NRCan and the process for finalizing the application, visit the Natural Resources Canada website.
Please note that if you have already responded to NRCan’s request, you do not need to do anything more.
