Amounts for multiple-unit housing
Financial assistance granted under the Rénoclimat program is higher for duplexes, triplexes and multiple-unit residential buildings than for single-family homes.
Amounts for insulation and air tightness work
For multiple-unit buildings, the amount of financial assistance for insulation and air tightness work is increased by applying the multiplier that is associated with the number of units in the building.
Number of units | Rénoclimat multiplier |
---|---|
2 to 3 units (duplex and triplex) | 1,5 |
4 to 6 units | 2,5 |
7 to 9 units | 3,0 |
10 to 12 units | 3,5 |
13 to 16 units | 4,0 |
17 units or more | 5,0 |
Example
You are carrying out insulation work on the flat roof of your 8-unit building. The current insulating value of the roof is R-10 (RSI 1.8).
Once the work is performed on 100% of its surface area, the insulating value is R-28 (RSI 5). The amount of financial assistance granted under the Rénoclimat program for this work will be: $975 x 3.0 = $2,925.
Amounts for replacement of doors and windows
The financial assistance payable for replacement of doors, windows and skylights is calculated according to the number of existing rough openings.
Amounts for the installation of mechanical systems
Financial assistance for the installation of mechanical systems in a multiple-unit building is calculated based on the number of units installed.
- The number of installed units per unit must not exceed one.
- The amount granted per unit is the same as the one granted for single-family homes.
Example
In your 8-unit building, you replace four ventilation systems with four heat recovery ventilation (HRV) systems.
The financial assistance will equal $490 x 4 = $1,960.
Consult the Participant's Guide (in French only) to estimate the total amount of financial assistance you could receive.
Do not hesitate to question your Rénoclimat advisor as needed regarding the financial assistance available for duplexes, triplexes and multiple-unit residential buildings.
