Grant amounts for multi-unit residential building
Financial assistance granted under the Rénoclimat program is higher for duplexes, triplexes and multi-unit residential buildings than for single-family homes.
The mentioned multipliers are in effect since May 1, 2024.
- They apply to post-retrofit energy evaluations conducted on or after May 1, 2024.
- Financial assistance for post-retrofit energy evaluations conducted before May 1, 2024, will be calculated using previous multipliers.
Grant amounts for insulation improvement
For multi-unit residential building, the amount of financial assistance for insulation improvement is increased by applying the multiplier that is associated with the number of units in the building.

Example
You are improving the insulation on the flat roof of your 8 units building. The current insulating value of the roof is R-10 (RSI 1.8).
Once the retrofit is performed on 100% of its surface area, the insulating value is R-28 (RSI 5). The grant amount for this retrofit will be: $1,500 x 5.0 = $7,500.
Grant amounts for airtightness improvement
Your Renovation Upgrade Report will provide you with a target to improve the airtightness of your home. Grant amounts will vary depending on the level of improvement you have reached after air-sealing your home.
Grant amounts for replacement of doors and windows
The grant amount for replacement of doors and windows is calculated according to the number of existing rough openings.
Grant amounts for the installation of mechanical systems
Financial assistance for the installation of mechanical systems in a multi-unit residential building is calculated based on the number of systems installed.
- The number of installed systems units per unit must not exceed one.
- The amount granted per systems unit is the same as the one granted for single-family homes.
Example
In your 8-unit building, you replace four ventilation systems with four heat recovery ventilation (HRV) systems.
The grant will be $500 x 4 = $2,000.
