Replacement of doors and windows
As of March 31, 2018, Rénoclimat program participants can obtain financial assistance for the replacement of doors, windows and skylights.
Type of system | Financial assistance | Conditions |
---|---|---|
Door Window Skylight | $60 per rough opening in the wall or roof | Must be ENERGY STAR® certified Must be installed in an existing rough opening |
Reference: Participant's Guide |
- Attention: The amount is calculated per rough opening. For example, a bay window composed of a group of three windows will qualify only for one amount of $60, since the windows are installed in the same rough opening.
- Replacement of a window pane or frame, or of a door without the frame, does not qualify for financial assistance.
Multiple-unit housing
Do you own a duplex, triplex or multiple-unit residential building? Financial assistance granted under the Rénoclimat program will be higher than for single-family homes. Consult the page Amounts for multiple-unit housing.
Modification of ENERGY STAR criteria for residential doors, windows and skylights
Effective January 1, 2020, Natural Resources Canada introduced new ENERGY STAR certification criteria for residential doors, windows and skylights. See the Natural Resources Canada website for full details.
Certification will no longer be attributed based on the climate zone in which the dwelling is located. Rather, it will be attributed for Canada as a whole. All ENERGY STAR certified models manufactured after this date will therefore be eligible for Rénoclimat financial assistance.
Note: If you install doors, windows or skylights manufactured before January 1, 2020, they must be ENERGY STAR-certified for the climate zone in which your dwelling is located. Keep the ENERGY STAR sticker and your invoices to ensure your eligibility.
